Our Mission and Purpose
Abiding Peace Lutheran Church makes Christ known by welcoming everyone to a supportive and accepting place to grow in faith and community to serve the Lord as people created by God, saved by Christ and nurtured by the Holy Spirit.
We seek to grow and learn together in all that we do, but especially through our education programs, including Sunday school, Bible studies, and Sunday Adult Forums.
Music at Abiding Peace
Music is an important part of our community. The choir and praise band share in the joy of leading the congregation in song. Led by Music Director Ben Schroeder, the congregation's musical repertoire includes anthems by both well– and little-known composers spanning from the Renaissance to present day, and congregational music that everyone can join.
The Arts in Worship
Through dance, the Word of God becomes visible, and the whole body is engaged in the act of worship.
Through our drama ministry, we engage the stories of the Bible and of voices of faith from today and from the past in ways that challenge us to see from new angles and to ask how these stories and voices can shape our own lives.
Feeding the Hungry
Our community feels called to reach out to the hunger around us. We host a food pantry, cook monthly meals at the Faith Kitchen soup kitchen in Dover, and grow food in our community garden that we share with Mt. Olive Manor and the Mt. Olive Food Pantry.
And of course, we enjoy eating together at fellowship times throughout the year.
